Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1.Do I need to know how to swim to take a bodyboard lesson?
Knowing how to swim is very important and recommended, but it is not mandatory to start bodyboarding. Lessons take place in a safe location, with water at waist level, and the coach provides constant guidance throughout.
2. What is the difference between surfing and bodyboarding?
In bodyboarding, you lie on the board or ride with one knee bent. Fins are used for propulsion, and the board is smaller in size compared to a surfboard.
3. Is bodyboarding easier than surfing?
No. Bodyboarding may seem simple, but it requires a lot of technique, leg strength, quick wave reading, and full-body control. Both sports have their own challenges.
4. Is bodyboarding just surfing for those who can’t stand on a board?
No. Bodyboarding is a complete sport with its own techniques, specific wave reading, and unique movements not found in traditional surfing.
While surfing requires balance standing up, bodyboarding demands:
-
Leg explosiveness
-
Core strength
-
Quick wave reading
-
Precision with fins
-
Full-body control
5. How long does it take to learn bodyboarding?
It depends on your level, frequency, and exposure to the ocean. Many beginners can ride waves with control in the first few lessons, and continuous practice with guidance leads to steady improvement.
6. Is bodyboarding safe for beginners?
Yes! Lessons take place in suitable locations, with waves matched to each skill level and close supervision by the coach.
8. Does bodyboarding help with physical fitness?
Absolutely. Bodyboarding is a full-body sport that works on:
